Supplied originally to California (LHD) in 1980, this car is now in the UK and had an extensive underside overhaul costing £7500. The car is fantastic unmolested, rust free and original condition, and benefits from the usual removal of the fuel injection system and carburettor retrofitted.
Really solid, low mileage, genuine RHD Beetle. Dry stored every Winter but not used enough in Summer to justify keeping it. Just sailed through MOT. Paintwork not touched for last 10 years and although some areas faded, you can see this is a really solid well looked after Beetle. I have spent money every year on new clutch, two new heads, new carburettor, brake pipes and brakes, tyres etc. Still small things to do - window rubbers, running boards, one rear window winder, seats could do with restoration (cream, leather, high-back American spec). At 38 years old this is not a tatty vehicle in any way. It has been extremely reliable and I will be sad to see her go. I have history since 1980 when it was imported into England and converted to RHD. Therefore, the 36,000 miles is from then. I have owned it for 8 years and I bought it from the mechanic who maintained it for many years. My VW specialist who services it says it is a good one and the AA man who replaced a fuel pipe 2 years ago was surprised at what good condition it was in.
